My interest in photography began with my interest in graphic design. My graphic designs were initially based around t-shirt designs for a clothing company that I co-founded. I further developed my talent by submitting many of my designs for comment to an internet art forum where I received insightful criticism. My designs were mostly based around abstract 3-d models; I would then edit the image to further develop the renderings into a final image. The lessons learned from critique of my graphic design not only improved my designs but, also formed my “eye” for photography.

I continued to explore graphic design and photography while completing my Bachelors of Science in Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in illuminating engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder. As part of my academic studies, I gained knowledge in topics such as psychology of perception, optics, and of course, illumination.
